U.H.A.C.C. Acceptable Usage Policy


Users of UHACC resources shall not abuse such privilege by:
  • engaging in or attempting any unauthorized system intrusion.
  • circumventing any system security feature
  • IP spoofing
  • planting trojaned files
  • escalating privilege without permission from the sysadmin
  • performing any denial of service to anyone or anything.
  • intercepting any transmission intended for someone or something else
Neither shall anyone attempt or execute the modification, overwriting, or deleting of files outside their sphere of ownership or authority. (file, in this context is defined as any directory, block, character, socket, link, named pipe or regular file.)

No user shall perform any sort of security audit, test, or check without prior written authorization from a UHACC sysadmin.

No network services, listeners, polling aparatii or daemons shall be executed by non-admin users without prior request and subsequent written approval by the Executive Board.

Those who enjoy e-mail and forum posting privilege shall not abuse such privilege by:
  • mailing unsolicited commercial e-mail (spam)
  • engaging in harassment
  • mail or post flooding
  • posting slanderous content
  • unlawfully disclosing proprietary information
UHACC users found to be infected with any worm, trojan, or virus, may have his or her account or access limited or disabled until evidence showing the eradication of such maladies can be presented.

UHACC users who have personal web pages on any UHACC server shall not host damaging content, active or otherwise.

No UHACC user may host or distribute cracked software, warez, trojaned binaries (unless specifically and conspicuously labelled), registration codes, cd keys, passwords, or any additional tool, file or program that has no legitimate use.

By accessing or using any UHACC system or service you agree to abide by the above rules.

All violations, save virus, trojan, or worm infection, shall be subject to at least a disciplinary hearing. At such time the Executive Board shall review any incident and decide what sanctions, if any, are appropriate. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to:
  • loss of shell access
  • loss of UHACC voting rights
  • loss of UHACC e-mail access
  • loss of UHACC webspace
  • revokation of membership
  • presentation to the club on "Why you shouldn't do what I did."
  • extra club duties as assigned
UHACC reserves the right to press criminal charges, if deemed necessary, at any time subsequent to any perceived criminal violation of the above rules or any Federal or State law or statute.

UHACC and its agents reserve the right to modify or revoke user access and/or privileges to any of its resources at any time without prior notification.

In other words, play nice. What you do with UHACC resources reflects on the club directly.
