Our Guiding Principles

UHACC Privacy PolicyWe respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy serves to inform you, the user, how your personal information might be processed or used. Our policy is applied to web pages, ftp files, news blog(s), discussion forums and mailing lists used or maintained by Unix Hobbyists' Administrators' & Coders' Club ("UHACC"). What information we collect and how we collect it When visitors request pages from a UHACC server, it automatically logs to a persistent file that visitor's client IP address (and machine canonical DNS name, if assigned). The IP address reveals the source of the page request. We use this information to examine our traffic in aggregate, or occasionally to investigate abuse of UHACC services, its users, or to comply with legal mandates. We do not collect and evaluate this information for specific individuals. Our Web servers do not automatically record e-mail addresses of the visitors. Use of Cookies A UHACC server may send a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a small benign piece of data sent to your web browser and stored on your computer. We use cookies to identify which areas of UHACC's Network you have logged in to, visited or customized, so the next time you visit, those pages may be readily accessible. You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings of your browser. If you choose not to accept these cookies, your experience at our site may be degraded and some features may not work as intended. Single-pixel gifs (web bugs) UHACC does not use these images files, also referred to as web bugs or web beacons, to gather information due to our ethical concerns underlying gathering data on individuals in this manner. Information we collect when you register for something or create an account UHACC offers access to some services that require registration. We may use your registration information occasionally to send notification to you of UHACC products, services, or events by e-mail. Use of e-mail addresses We will not sell, rent, disclose, or otherwise share your information with any entity outside of the UHACC organization, except as mandated by court order or other such legal mandate without your consent or as permitted by this Privacy Policy. We may occasionally e-mail registrants and users announcements about UHACC products, services or events. Except as stated above, UHACC will not send you e-mail that you have not agreed to receive. When you sign up for an UHACC discussion or news (blog) forum, your name or alias is recorded solely for purposes of maintaining your own account within the forums. This information is not used to monitor your activity within a forum, nor is it used to identify you outside the UHACC network. If you register for a contest or other promotion, we may ask for your name, address, and e-mail address so we can administer the contest and notify winners. Information we collect when you purchase UHACC goods/services If you are purchasing something from UHACC, we may need to know or verify any of the follwing information: your name, e-mail address, phone number, mailing address, checking account information, escrow service info, e-pay agent info (such as PayPal), or credit card number and expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill your order and to notify you of your order status. Credit card, other financial info, and/or e-mail information will not be shared, rented or sold to third parties for any purpose except as provided in this Privacy Policy without your express permission. UHACC uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypted servers to encrypt all such sensitive information transferred between you and the server, rendering it unreadable to anyone trying to intercept the information. Disclosure of information you third parties? UHACC may disclose personal information and/or IP addresses to a third party when:
UHACC uses reasonable precautions to keep the information disclosed to us secure. UHACC reserves the right to transfer all such information in connection with any ownership change in UHACC services or properties. Even though we take resonable security precautions and procedures, we still can not be responsible for information leaked as a result of any breach in security. Third-party websites The UHACC Network contains many hyperlinks to third party Web sites. The UHACC Network also contains advertisements of third parties. UHACC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such third party Web sites or advertisers. UHACC does not share any of the individual personal information you provide UHACC with the third parties to which UHACC links, except as stated elsewhere within this Privacy Policy, although UHACC may share general, aggregate data with such third parties (such as how many people use/visit our site). Please check with those Web sites to determine their privacy policy. Self-disclosure in a public forum Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online - for example through e-mail, discussion lists, or elsewhere - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your personal information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you're online. Your Consent To This Agreement By using UHACC resources, you consent to the collection and use of information by UHACC as specified above. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. Please send any questions about UHACC’s Privacy Policy to the UHACC Webmaster. Please note that your use of the UHACC network of Web sites is governed by our Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP). |
