LinuxFest 2004, a Photo Tour

We started the day bright and early with a trip to the American Legion hall to load up the tables. Once we got those set up, Phil got right to work setting up the network. Time was at a premium, so Phil's port registering plan got pitched. The network closet eneded up looking about like we expected: ugly-as-sin-but-functional.

Aside from the goofy password activation scheme on our network feed, the Lodgenet T-1 was pretty OK for the event. Thank goodness for duct tape and tiled ceilings, cause that's what con cable infrastructures are held together with! There was intermittent annoying problems with the power. I think the final count was our distribution breakers blew twice and the room breaker blew open once before we got the power distributed correctly. Probably a result of a hasty setup, but chalk that up to experience.

Once the presentations started, the network tweakage went on while Ari enthralled the masses with his excellent X desktop presentation.
Erik's presentation was on Linux networking. From what I understand, he had a tough time wrapping up being that he was still answering questions out in the hallway after his session. Lots of good info!

D-fu and sternn gave the inspiring Linux multimedia presentation. Here's a pic showing those two cooking the books and showing everyone that multimedia is not a pipe dream. Needless to say, this one was a hit with attendees.

No official count on the number of installs completed that day, but let's just say that the last time I saw that many windows blown away, it was caused by a natural gas explosion!
I have no idea why there are no pix of the gaming. Guess I was too busy getting my clock cleaned by elfstones at Freecraft to snap a picture. Gaming was a bit chaotic, but ultimately was way fun!

Some of the UHACC members enjoy a rest after a long night gaming.

UHACC strikes the set. Time to go home and crash.
