First, a little context: I tire of over-complexity. Where possible, I apply reason and functional elegance towards my personal goal of defeating intrusive, bloated and unweildy systems borne of politics rather than common sense and genuine need. In short, I like to keep things simple. Everything seems to function better that way, wouldn't you agree?

Incidentally, lately technology has been plagued with stupid IP problems stemming from patent and IP law nincompoopery and leading to such debacles as Microsoft claiming a patent on a boolean operator (NOT EQUALS: as if Redmond invented boolean logic!). In my opinion this race for ownership of ideas ahs lead to intrusive, unweildy, sneaky, underhanded, presumptuous, slimy, and downright greedy business plans such as demonstrated by SCO et al. You can well imagine why I enjoy deploying, admining, and maintaining Unix and Unix-type systems. Well, all except for Solaris.

My mild-mannered daytime job employs me as an AIX/Linux systems analyst.
I also was the CEO of a B2B IT outsourcing firm created in 1999 by me and a friend while still in grad school. As with a lot of stuff, it was a niche market and the niche all but disappeared for independents (dial-up ISP's for crying out loud :)
Hey at least we didn't tank in 2001!

I am also also a full-time dad and the President of UHACC, a very cool group of Unix-inclined guys and gals.

In my limited spare time, I can be found in my garage restoring coin-op video arcade games. I have a whole site dedicated to my crazy hobby.
